| PRESS RELEASE |

Noting that professions linked to cinematographic and audiovisual production struggle to reflect society in its diversity, both in front of and behind the camera, noting that young women and people of diversified backgrounds encounter obstacles in terms of entry, professionalisation, and in the pursuit of careers, 50/50 is launching a mentoring program to encourage parity and equal opportunity in our industry.

This initiative is an extension of the actions carried out by 50/50, particularly the directory of professionals, the 50/50 bible, with the aim to promote technical and artistic teams which are representative of the the whole of the French cultural, ethnic and social fabric.

More than ever, the need for civil society to transmit and support younger generations is imperative. This transmission must be inclusive, equal and intersectional so that diversity is also reflected in tomorrow’s film and audiovisual industry.

An experimental mentoring session, launched in March 2020, with an audience identified by the Mille Visages organisation (created in 2006 by Houda Benyamina) and the Culture and Diversity Foundation made it possible for us to measure the need to further commit ourselves to this initiative.

In May and October 2021, the two first sessions will be organised for young professionals that already have a first experience in the sector. The following sessions will then alternate with sessions intended for a younger audience, during their post-baccalaureate orientation or school reintegration phases.

The Collectif’s mentoring project relies on a system of customised support in order to master the codes of the sector and understand the ecosystem in which the mentee intends to evolve.

We are delighted to forge this new partnership with Netflix in light of the development of this special project.
