Agreement between the French Embassy in India, represented by his Excellency Mr. Emmanuel Lenain, and the Collectif 50/50, represented by its co-president Mrs. Sandrine Brauer.
Given the President of the Republic’s decision, made November 25th 2017, to turn gender equality into the great cause of his five-year term,
Given the major priority that women’s rights constitute within France’s external action, and the advocacy action of the Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs in favour of equality in our development aid policy, in multilateral and European fora and in bilateral relations,
Given France’s international strategy for gender equality over the 2018-2022 period,
Given the importance of the promotion of women’s place in the audiovisual industry and the film industry, as well as the representation of women in visual content in order to fight against gender stereotypes,
Given the objectives set by Collectif 50/50, a French organisation whose aim is to promote equality between women and men and diversity in the film and audiovisual industries,
The French Embassy in India, in alignment with its Cooperation and Cultural Action Department’s scope of action, and the Collectif 50/50 have decided to work together around the following commitments :
Article 1 : communicate gendered data relative to guest/invited personalities (directors, film crews…) as part of the Embassy’s cultural programming (festivals in particular).
Article 2 : communicated gendered data relative to French films distributed on the Indian territory (percentage of male and female directors of the distributed films).
Article 3 : favour the promotion of films directed by women and/or films having obtained the parity bonus (parity among team managers) and attempt to achieve parity within the teams that are invited to support films scheduled in Indian festivals and supported by the Embassy.
Article 4 : pay particular attention to Indian female students’ applications for their preselection to French film and audiovisual schools and commit to accompany them.
